Designing the New Event Page (And Naming Things Is Hard)

Posted screenshots today of the new dialog we’re building for repeat options on the event page — moving them out of the main form and into their own dialog, similar to how Google Calendar’s mobile app handles it. Nekhelesh and popey jumped on it in #ubuntu-app-devel almost immediately — popey pushed back on calling it “Repetition,” said it read confusing next to “Repeat,” and he’s right, going with the simpler word.

This follows on from bug 1295941 a few weeks back, about letting someone add multiple guests to an event without the form falling apart, and bug 1359306, which we’re still chipping at — how a repeated event’s default end time gets calculated, thirty minutes or sixty past the start depending on what you’ve just typed.

None of these are big decisions on their own. But they’re the ones users actually notice, and they only come out right when there’s someone else in the channel to argue with in real time.
